Emerging trends in antimicrobial resistance in bloodstream infections: multicentric longitudinal study in India

  16 May 2024

This study examines antimicrobial resistance (AMR) patterns in bloodstream infections in India, aiming to inform better surveillance and intervention strategies. Six-year data from 21 tertiary care centers was analyzed to estimate cluster-robust trends in resistance. Results showed significant monthly increases in Imipenem and Meropenem resistance for Klebsiella, E. coli, and Acinetobacter BSIs. Cefotaxime resistance emerged as a potential early indicator for emerging Carbapenem resistance. Implementing a model-based AMR scorecard can help nations achieve proactive AMR surveillance.
